More Forum Questions

When we first began offering the Access Reseller opportunity, we posted a bulletin board. Here are some of the questions we received multiple times.

What do I charge for services?

You may set your own prices. We recommend $14.95 for a single account and $29.95 for ISDN.

How much maintenance is required?

We set up your control panel where you can activate, remove, and modify accounts. When you get a new signup, you will need to activate it.

This is not always a hands-free business. It does not take too much time but it does requires your attention.

It is a good business but not a get-rich-quick with no effort promise. You can make very good money at this with less effort. That is true enough.

How do I handle the money?

We have a merchant service you can signup and use. This allows instant activation of accounts.

You may also choose to use your own merchant account or even a service on-line like PayPal. You can take checks, money orders, or even checks by phone or e-form.

We allow you to decide how you will take money. You prepay your active accounts once a month around the 25th of the month. How you take in the money for your accounts is your decision. We can help steer you to the service we use or you can select your own.

Is there a monthly quota?

No, there is no monthly quota.

Is there a minimum payout?

No. Since you prepay your accounts, you keep your profits up-front. In cases where we do owe you money, we will pay in any amount.

Are there any annual or monthly fees?

Yes:

You must pay your monthly line fee.

The line fee (typically $100/month) is the only recurring charge. To offset this you must maintain a few dialup customers. This is not a quota.

What does the control panel look like?

I have a test account setup that you can look at. Most functions are disabled for obvious reasons.

How many customers can one dial-up number handle?

You must understand that any single access number is only the first in a hunt group of numbers.

The dialup number is called, then the call is rolled over to the next available number in a group of numbers standing by. There is a whole bank of modems in every location waiting for calls.

When 7 tenths of 1 percent of calls result in a busy signal, we make an upstream request to add to the modem bank. You should not be able to overload any location and if in the unlikely event you do, it will only be temporary until we can make an adjustment.

As an ISP, what type of hardware do I manage?

None:

All the hardware, updates, repairs, etc... are included free for you to use. You have no hardware to maintain.

Who handles customer support?

Soon we will. We are working on a program to provide a central call center for all customer support services. Our upstream service suggested a support center but we decided it was more cost effective and beneficial to supply our own. This is coming soon but for now, you are responsible for customer support.

Our dialup software makes customer support almost nonexistent. Most support requests are to change passwords.

No local dialup, can we get one?

We can't drop new lines now. You can buy a franchise in a city you don't actually live in if you like. Unfortunately the expense in dropping new lines are too great and we feel it is important to utilize the existing lines first.
