Webmail lets you read and send your business email from any web browser, with nothing to install. This guide shows you how to log in to webmail (Roundcube) directly or from cPanel, and what to do if the login doesn't work.
How to log in to webmail
- Open a web browser and go to
https://example.com/webmail(replace example.com with your own domain). - In the Email field, enter your full email address, for example
you@example.com. - Enter the password for that email account.
- Click Log in.
The first time, you may see a webmail home page with a Roundcube option instead of your inbox. Click Open (or the Roundcube logo) to go to your mail. To skip that page in future, tick Open my inbox when I log in. You can always get back to it from the Webmail Home link inside Roundcube.
Other webmail addresses that work
https://example.com:2096-- the direct webmail port. Useful if the/webmailaddress is redirected by your website.https://secure.instantaccess.net:2096-- use this if your domain isn't pointed at our servers yet or your browser shows a certificate warning. Log in with your full email address as usual.
Bookmark whichever address works for you.
How to open webmail from cPanel
If you manage the hosting account, you can open any mailbox without typing its password:
- Log in to cPanel (see How to Log In to cPanel from the Client Area).
- Go to Email > Email Accounts.
- Click Check Email next to the mailbox.
Webmail opens in a new tab, already logged in to that mailbox.
Finding your way around Roundcube
- Mail: your folders (Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Junk, Trash) are on the left. Click Compose to write a new message.
- Contacts: your webmail address book. See How to Import Contacts into Roundcube Webmail to import contacts.
- Settings: change your display name and signature (see How to Add an Email Signature in Roundcube Webmail), preferences and folders.
- Logout: always log out on a shared or public computer.
Roundcube is the webmail app on Instant Access Internet Services servers. Mail you see in webmail is the same mail your phone and computer see if they use IMAP (see IMAP vs POP3: Which Should You Use?).
Troubleshooting
"Login failed" or "The login is invalid"
- Use the full email address as the username, not just the part before the @.
- Use the email account's own password. It's usually different from your cPanel or client area password.
- Check Caps Lock, and try typing the password rather than pasting it.
If you still can't get in, the cPanel account holder can set a new mailbox password in cPanel -- see How to Change an Email Account Password in cPanel. The Reset Password link on the login page can also send a reset link, if a recovery email address has been set up for that mailbox.
The page won't load or shows a certificate warning
If your domain is new or its DNS is still updating, example.com/webmail may not reach our server yet (see DNS Propagation: Why Domain Changes Take Time and How to Check). Use https://secure.instantaccess.net:2096 instead.
Webmail worked yesterday and now nothing loads at all
Several failed logins in a row -- from you, or from a phone or computer with an old saved password -- can make our firewall temporarily block your IP address. That also blocks your website and cPanel from that network. Look up your IP at whatismyipaddress.com and send it to us in a ticket, then update the password on your other devices.
Webmail keeps logging me out
Roundcube logs you out after a period of inactivity for security. Make sure your browser allows cookies for your domain, and don't use private or incognito mode if you want to stay signed in longer.
My mailbox is full
If you can't receive new mail, see How to Fix "Mailbox Full" Errors to free up space.
