WP Toolkit lets you install WordPress on your hosting account in a couple of minutes, with no files to upload and no database to set up by hand. This guide shows how to install WordPress with WP Toolkit in cPanel, which settings to pick, and what to do right after the install.

Before you start

• Point your domain at us first. Your domain should use our nameservers (ns5.instantaccess.net and ns6.instantaccess.net, plus ns1/ns2.fanaticalhosting.com) so the site opens and AutoSSL can issue a free SSL certificate. You can install before DNS has finished updating, but you won't see the site on your domain until it has.
• Decide where it goes. Most people install WordPress on the main domain (https://example.com). You can also use a subdomain such as blog.example.com (create it first in Domains > Domains) or a subfolder such as example.com/blog. Your plan includes one website domain, with unlimited subdomains.
• Clear out old files. If public_html still has an old site or a placeholder index.html, back it up and remove it, or WordPress may not show up as your home page.
• Softaculous isn't used here. WP Toolkit is the WordPress installer on Instant Access Internet Services servers.

How to install WordPress with WP Toolkit

1. Log in to cPanel and go to Domains > WordPress Management (WP Toolkit).
2. Click Install. (If you have no WordPress sites yet, the install button is shown in the middle of the page.)
3. Under Installation path, choose the protocol (https://) and your domain or subdomain from the drop-down. Leave the folder box after the slash empty to install on the main address, or type a folder name such as blog to install in a subfolder.
4. Enter a Website title. You can change it later in WordPress.
5. Leave Plugin/theme set empty unless you have made one, choose your Website language, and keep the latest Version.
6. Under WordPress Administrator, set:
   • Username -- avoid "admin"; pick something less obvious.
   • Password -- use the generate option for a strong password, and save it in your password manager.
   • Email -- a real address you check. WordPress sends password resets and notices here.
7. The Database settings are filled in automatically (database name, user and password). You don't need to change them.
8. Under Automatic Update Settings, we recommend Yes, but only minor (security) updates for WordPress, and security updates for plugins and themes.
9. Click Install and wait for the progress bar to finish. It usually takes under a minute.
10. WP Toolkit may offer to install some popular plugins. Pick any you want, or skip this step.

Your new site now appears as a card in WP Toolkit. Click Log In on the card to open the WordPress dashboard, or go to https://example.com/wp-admin.

What to do after installing WordPress

1. Secure it. On the site's card, open the security option and apply the recommended hardening measures.
2. Speed it up. Install the LiteSpeed Cache plugin -- our servers run LiteSpeed, so it's the best caching choice here.
3. Check HTTPS. Visit https://example.com. If you see a certificate warning, wait for AutoSSL to finish (it can take a few hours after DNS updates).
4. Set your permalinks. In WordPress, go to Settings > Permalinks and choose Post name for clean URLs.

Troubleshooting

I still see the old page or a "coming soon" page

An old index.html in public_html is loading before WordPress. Remove or rename it with File Manager. Also clear your browser cache.

The site doesn't open at all

Your domain probably isn't pointed at our nameservers yet, or DNS is still updating. See the nameservers and DNS propagation guides below.

WP Toolkit says the folder isn't empty

There are already files where you're installing. Back them up if you need them, then remove them, or install into a different folder or subdomain.

I want to move an existing WordPress site here instead
