cPanel can display its menus and tools in several languages. This short guide shows how to change the cPanel language from inside your account or from the login page, and how to change the language of Roundcube webmail, which has its own setting.
How to change the cPanel language
- Log in to cPanel.
- Go to Preferences > Change Language.
- Pick a language from the Select a language menu.
- Click Change.
cPanel reloads in the new language straight away. The menu lists every language available on the Instant Access Internet Services server, such as English, Spanish, German and Portuguese.
Change the language on the login page
The cPanel login page (https://example.com/cpanel) shows a list of languages below the login box. Click a language before you log in, and the login page and your cPanel session will use it. This is handy on a shared or new computer.
Change the language in Roundcube webmail
Webmail has its own language setting, so each email user can choose their own.
- Log in to webmail at
https://example.com/webmail. - Click Settings.
- Click Preferences, then User Interface.
- Choose a Language from the menu.
- Click Save.
The webmail login page also has a language selector if you want to switch before signing in.
Common questions
Why did cPanel go back to English?
cPanel remembers your language choice with a browser cookie. If you clear your cookies, use a private window or log in from a different browser or computer, it may show the default language again. Set it once more and it will stick for that browser.
Does changing the language affect my website?
No. The cPanel language only changes the control panel you see. Your website, WordPress and email content are not affected. To change your WordPress site's language, use Settings > General > Site Language inside WordPress.
My language isn't in the list
The menu shows every language installed for cPanel on our server. If you'd like one that isn't there, open a ticket and we'll let you know if it can be added.
I switched to a language I can't read. How do I get back?
Log out (click your username at the top right, then the last item in the menu), then pick English from the language list on the login page. Or open https://example.com/cpanel in a private browser window, where the default language will show.
Some screens are still in English
A few add-on tools, such as WP Toolkit, JetBackup 5 and the CloudLinux tools, have their own translations and may not cover every language. That's expected.
