You don't need to remember your WordPress password to get into your site. WP Toolkit in cPanel has a one-click Log In button that opens your WordPress admin dashboard as an administrator. This guide shows how to log in to WordPress admin from WP Toolkit, how to log in the normal way at /wp-admin, and what to do when login doesn't work.
How to log in to WordPress admin from WP Toolkit
- Log in to cPanel. The quickest way is from the client area: Services > My Services, click your Instant Access Internet Services hosting plan, then Log in to cPanel.
- In cPanel, go to Domains > WordPress Management (WP Toolkit).
- Find your website's card in the list.
- Click Log In (under the small screenshot of your site).
- Your WordPress dashboard opens in a new browser tab, already signed in as an administrator.
If nothing happens, your browser probably blocked the new tab. Allow pop-ups for your cPanel address and click Log In again.
Log in the normal way at /wp-admin
You can always log in directly too, which is handy for other people who work on the site:
- Go to
https://example.com/wp-admin(orhttps://example.com/wp-login.php). Replace example.com with your domain. If WordPress is in a subfolder, add it, e.g.https://example.com/blog/wp-admin. - Enter your WordPress Username or Email Address and Password.
- Click Log In.
Your WordPress username and password are separate from your cPanel login. To see the admin username, or to set a new password, click Setup next to Log In on the site's card in WP Toolkit.
Things to know about one-click login
- Which user does it use? WP Toolkit signs you in with an administrator account on the site, normally the admin that was created when WordPress was installed. If your site has several administrators and you want to act as a particular one, log in at
/wp-adminwith that user's own details instead. - Keep the site listed. The button only appears for sites WP Toolkit knows about. If you installed WordPress by hand or moved it in, click Scan at the top of the WP Toolkit page so it finds the site.
- Two-factor plugins. If you use a 2FA or login-security plugin in WordPress, you may still be asked for a code after clicking Log In.
- Protect your cPanel login. Anyone who can get into your cPanel can get into WordPress this way. Use a strong cPanel password and turn on two-factor authentication for cPanel.
Troubleshooting
The Log In button takes me to the login page instead of the dashboard
This usually means the admin account WP Toolkit expects has been renamed or removed, or a security plugin is blocking automatic logins. Click Setup on the site's card, check the administrator username, set a new password, and log in at /wp-admin with those details.
My site isn't in WP Toolkit
Click Scan at the top of the WP Toolkit page. WP Toolkit searches your account and adds any WordPress sites it finds. If it still doesn't appear, the site files may be damaged or in an unusual location -- open a ticket.
I get "Error establishing a database connection" or a blank page
That's a problem with the site itself, not the login. See the database connection and white screen guides below.
I log in but keep getting bounced back to the login screen
- Clear cookies for your site or try a private window.
- Make sure you are using the right address: if your site runs on
https://www.example.com, log in there rather than onhttp://example.com. Mixing http/https or www/non-www can stop the login cookie from sticking. - Temporarily turn off caching or security plugins from the Plugins tab on the site's card in WP Toolkit, then try again.
Suddenly I can't reach the site or cPanel at all
Repeated failed logins to cPanel, email, FTP or SSH can make our firewall temporarily block your IP address. Find your IP at whatismyipaddress.com and open a ticket with it so we can unblock you.
